Ref. 5500: Here's a great example of an uncommon 5500 Explorer. Slightly smaller than a 1016 (34mm), this is a great looking and under appreciated watch. Original glossy gilt dial and beautiful matching hands make this watch a real charmer.
Case is in very good condition. Watch has moderate surface wear, but most if not all scratches and dents are superficial and add to the vintage look of the watch. Serial and ref. numbers are both clear and visible with the naked eye. Caseback signed 64 inside.
Dial is in excellent original condition. There are very small age marks along the edge at 6 o'clock, but they do not detract from the beauty of this piece. Hand luminous matches the dial color and the gloss texture of the dial is deep and shinny.
Watch comes on a 7205 Swiss signed rivet band with 57 ends, 12 links and a clasp date of 1966. The bracelet has scratches consistent to the head of the watch. Minimal stretch evident.
