Rolex Explorer I 14270 "Blackout Box and Papers"

14270: Perhaps one of the lowest production and most desirable sapphire crystal sport Rolexes, the Blackout has a couple unique features distinguishing it from later versions. The black enamel on the 3-6-9 was subsequently replaced with white enamel, allowing for much better visibility. Also, the silver fonts on the dial were also subsequently replaced with white printing, also perhaps for improved visibility. Found in early serials such as "E" and early "X" serial watches.
