6204: This is only the 4th example of a honeycomb Submariner that I have ever seen in many years. Rarer than a big crown, rarer than an explorer dial, this is one amazing watch. Of the ones that I have seen, this is by far the cleanest of the lot, with a near mint dial and case. Interesting to note, that each of the examples that I have examined fall within the same serial number range of 949,XXX. The caseback is marked 2nd quarter 1953. Unique in its striking appearance, this is surely a watch that even the most serious Submariner collector is lacking in their collection.
Case is in excellent condition. Thick lugs with no major nicks or scratches. No corrosion on either case or caseback.
Amazing honeycomb dial with no "Officially Certifed Chronometer" or depth rating. Dial is in 9/10 condition, with minor wear expected from a 50+ year old watch. The unique dial has the words "SUBMARINER PERPETUAL" written across the center of the dial, similar to another rare TOG variant. Hands are original pencil hands, and bezel and insert are original as well.
Comes with a rivited oyster band with 12 links.
